Per Oscar Brekell is a Swedish-born, Tokyo-based certified Japanese Tea Instructor, author, and entrepreneur who serves as a global ambassador for Japanese green tea. Notably, Brekell is the first non-Japanese individual to receive a formal diploma for preparing traditional, hand-rolled sencha, and his efforts to modernize tea education earned him the Challenge Prize from the World Green Tea Association in 2016.
Today, he frequently appears on Japanese television, conducts masterclasses across more than 15 countries, and has authored widely read books like A Beginner's Guide to Japanese Tea, making traditional brewing techniques accessible to a global audience.
What to expect
Embark on a journey through the different forms and brewing methods of Japanese tea. We begin with the exclusive Tsujiki 2026 harvest, single-estate Asahi matcha, followed by Brekell's range of teas from Senchaism – including rare teas available to only 0.01% of Japanese, – and finishing off with a live roasting of hojicha. During the session, expect to learn the history, the journey, and how to best appreciate and brew the flavours.
